bullets made beautiful

“Even something as ugly as a bullet that was fired in a war can be made beautiful if you are willing to work to change it into something else.”  -Lovetta Conto

Lovetta Conto is not defined by the hostile and seemingly hopeless past she came from.  She is strong and stunning.

Strangely, the part of this story that most inspires me is one of the less dramatic bits: Lovetta’s courage to pursue her passion.  Even though she knew her father wanted her to be a lawyer and she had a desire to make him proud, she also recognized the importance of connecting with the something that truly makes her feel alive.

With the help of The Strongheart Fellowship, Lovetta has turned her love for fashion and design into a medium through which to make a difference, and that’s why I celebrate her today.

Her jewelry line is called Akawelle, and the proceeds support the Strongheart House in Liberia.  You can learn more at www.akawelle.com.
